The U-M Bone & Joint Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation Center is proud to announce a FREE one-day international symposium on head injuries and concussion, August 4, 2008. This symposium will precede the North American Congress of Biomechanics (visit their website for more informtaion), a combined meeting of the American and Canadian Societies of Biomechanics, which is being held at the University of Michigan August 5–9, 2008.

The symposium’s key learning objectives include the provision of state-of-the-art basic and clinical research related to head injury and concussion. Specific topics relating to these objectives include: prevention, mechanisms, modeling, treatment, post-injury therapeutics, and rehabilitation.

Three internationally renowned leaders in the field will give keynote presentations, in conjunction with a number of sessional presentations from local (University of Michigan and Wayne State University) experts. In addition, all speakers will take part in an audience-driven question and answer session focusing on key foci, current trends, and future directions in head injury and concussion research. Click here for biosketches of each of the speakers and an outline of the program and day's events.

This unique symposium will be of interest to researchers in the field, healthcare professionals (e.g., primary care physicians and specialists in neurology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, trauma, emergency medicine, and sport medicine) and allied healthcare professionals (e.g., athletic trainers, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and physician assistants). CEU and CME credits will be given to qualified professionals. Lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments will also be provided free of charge to all participants.

If you are interested in participating in this event, please register as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you on August 4th. In the meantime, please email us with any questions or concerns regarding this Symposium.
